THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN MAKING A DIRECT, PERSONAL CONNECTION WITH ORPHANS ACROSS CONTINENTS, AND VIMA IS EXCITED TO PROVIDE THE MEDIUM - Founder of VIMA
Welcome to the VIMA Children's Home in the rural Volta Ghana. Our orphanage is designed to provide both long and short term, loving home for children who have been orphaned. While first priority goes to children who are "double orphaned," meaning they've lost both parents, in some cases the children are "single orphaned" (loss of one parent), but for one reason or another, the living parent is financially unable to provide care for the child, a situation the founder of VIMA knows first-hand growing up, as he watched his mother struggle day and night to take care of six siblings, after he became orphan at age six. For other children at the home, it can be for a variety of reasons, ranging from physical illness, disability, incarceration of parents, or economics circumstances.
In consideration for placement, we at VIMA Children’s Home looks at so many options,
For instance;

VIMA children home is registered and licensed with the Ghana Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection as an organization providing direct care to orphans and vulnerable children in rural Volta region. The VIMA Non-Profit Organization, which comprises the free donation of shoes and medical supplies, Women education on Health issues, as well as work and witness travel teams on one hand, and the VIMA children Home on the other hand, have developed as two sides of the same coin; with VIMA USA as the donor and governing body, and VIMA Children’s Home Ghana, as the implementing unit of our orphaned children rescue program. Since 2012, VIMA has grown to implement projects within highly deprived areas of Volta Region, Ghana.

We at VIMA realized that, Institutional orphanage care is clearly not the ideal, best-care scenario for any child; VIMA is well aware of this fact, VIMA therefore encourages that if other care options are available for an orphaned child, those should be explored first; for example, identifying family relations to care for the child etc. Unfortunately, in most rural farming and fishing areas of the Volta region of Ghana, the structures simply are not there for better orphan care options, we therefore view VIMA children Home as a last resort option for orphaned children when other care options have been exhausted. By collaborating with other organizations and government departments to promote better care options, VIMA is working consciously to reduce the negative potential of institutionalize orphanage care at the VIMA orphanage. For instance, on some weekends, the management arranges to have some of the kids spend time with church members, community elders, their single parents etc. The VIMA Children's Home is not the orphanage you think of when you think of a typical orphanage setup.
In order to provide the funding necessary to operate the Home and to ensure that each child has loving care in a clean and safe environment with proper clothing, nutritious meals, decent education, and appropriate healthcare, We thrive to pair each child with an American or western sponsor, who makes a monthly or annual financial contribution to VIMA towards the orphan upkeep.
For just $55/month, you can sponsor one orphan, at the VIMA Children’s Home and ensure that he or she gets education, spiritual Mentoring, Clothing, healthcare, and food that they need to break the cycle of poverty. Unlike some organizations, our child sponsorship program is volunteer run, 0% cost goes towards the U.S administrative fees. |
Sponsors also correspond with their sponsored child, providing guidance from a distance, mentorship and care. All donations are tax deductible. From its founding, the facility currently houses 53 children from ages 2-18. It is a long-term care facility situated in the green, serene and beautiful remote community of Tsibu-Bethel, an extension of the Awudome traditional area. All but a few of the youngest kids attend church and school within walking distance. VIMA Children Home is committed to providing a nurturing home for these children in Volta Ghana, who would otherwise lack such a safe haven.
